IMO Dan Barry is the best newspaper reporter and writer we have in this country. This is the most evenhanded account I have seen of the combustible event of Trayvon Martin's death. Barry and his coreporters -- three of them are credited, including Lizette Alvarez, who is pretty good in her own right -- did the hard and often thankless work of tracking down the details. A long time ago I wanted to be a newspaper reporter myself before deciding it wasn't for me. Once in a while I see something like this that makes me question that decision. It is exactly the way we were taught. Just the facts, ma'am, and as many of them as possible. If it's He Said, She Said, just state the facts as you understand them and let the reader decide.
