I've had to retrofit a few screens where a user enters a date and what I did was ...
SET CENTURY ON
in the WHEN

and

SET CENTURY OFF
in the VALID.

This doesn't protect against a worst-case user, but it's quick and easy and allows the user to decide if the date should be 2005 or 1905....
