>>>>>>>I would disagree about "crap is cheap" vs "good stuff is expensive" I go shopping to BJ (local food club, like a big store). I see many people loading their carriages with soda bottles and I load my carriage with water bottles. Which one do you think is more expensive and is less healthy? <g>

>>>My point is that to eat healthy does not cost any more (and very often much less) than to eat junk. Period.

>>>Yours and Alan's point about water bottles or portable water is just a drift from the topic.

>>You have a road to hoe if you're going to make a case that eating healthy doesn't cost more. Junk food is on sale all the time. Organic food costs way more in any supermarket. I am not criticizing that healthy choice but let's not kid ourselves that it's cheaper.

>Organic might be more expensive but a non organic diet with plenty of fresh vegetables and using either cheaper cuts of meat or pulses is going to be cheaper than a diet of burger coke and fries.
>My rule of thumb is the less pre processing thats taken place between the food raw material and my mouth the better.

Agreed.

My younger daughter has stopped eating red meat. Maybe we evolve. Or maybe it comes from living in Madison, Wisconsin, the Correct Thinking capital of the universe ;-) When you buy a bag of coffee beans there you make sure they were sustainably grown and a fair share went to the workers.

(A state which just voted Rick Santorum a close second to Mitt Romney in its presidential primary. People sometimes make the mistake of thinking Wisconsin is all as liberal as Mad Town and Milwaukee).
