In our applications we're using DSN we set up using odbcad32.exe from Windows\sysWow64 folder. Then we're using sqlconnect and sqlexec functions to manipulate SQL Server data. We're also using technique similar to shown by Vlad G FAQ to make SPT cursor available and operate with it after that as a local view.

Hovewer, you can also try using Cursor Adapter.
