I couldn't install vfp6 without IE4, so I assume that's true for VS too. I was also concerned because our LAN uses only a partial/customized IE4 for our intranet, but actually the vfp6 install didn't cause any trouble on the two machines I've loaded, in spite of horror stories floating around...
