I am using another third party for sending emails and use the .NET mail class to send emails. However, the third party email provider requires Port 587 to be set for sending emails. I have set this port in the code but I am unable to connect to the smtp server. I am assuming it is because port 587 is not open on my dedicated server.

You can check to see if the port is open by using a port scanner. Here is one I use a lot. http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-Port-Scanner/3000-18508_4-98269.html?tag=mncol;1

You might check with your server host and see if they have that port closed.
