Come on Craig. There is a big difference. If you buy a product and it goes away then you buy something else. More than likely you got the value out of it. When a lot of time is invested learning a language and it goes away then that is time lost that is hard to replace.

>And Sony said, "Use BetaMax, use 8-track tapes, use cassette tapes, use CDs, buy a walkman, buy a playstation". They're all gone, with the exception of CDs, and they are on their way out.

>>Truth is I don't trust Microsoft. They said use ADO, they said use LINQ, they said use Silverlight, they said, they said.

>>If MS is actively telling developers what the future will be and then shit-canning those exact recommended technologies, you have to be a fool to follow them. That doesn't mean avoid MS products. What it means is you're way better off following the herd and completely ignoring MS's prophecies. If the herd uses ODBC, then keep using ODBC even when MS tells you to use ADO. If the herd isn't jumping on Silverlight, then ignore MS when they tell you SilverLight is the future.

>>I honestly don't think Ballmer is the guy to lead a resurgence of MS. Apple keeps taking more and more market share.
