The HTML5 specification eliminated the different DOCTYPE declarations. All you need is this:

>Is it me but whenever I insert the DOCTYPE declaration on top of my page, this destroys the entire layout. Everything becomes centered, controls are squeeze on each other, spacing appears everywhere. This is like a lot of adjustments which I need to do if I wish to benefit from HTML5. Is there a way to use that declaration without having all those side effects? Or, basically, is it that without using that declaration that this is when it is not normal and that should be used on all HTML pages?
