Well since we are talking about where we started, my first programming language was ALGOL on a Burroughs 5500 at a remote sight (sent punched card image at a whopping 300 baud). One compile, link and execute a day. Our local computer ran COBOL and FORTRAN only. It was a Burroughs 2500 with 52K of Ram. My first "personal" computer was a TI 99A. WOW, I was in heaven, used the wife's cassette recorder to save programs and data (until she found out and then I had to buy my own). Later used a CPM machine by the name of Eagle, 2 disk drive, 64K. This was living. Later got an IBM clone by Sanyo. My first machine with a HD had 256K of memory and a 10Meg drive, cost about $2500. For comparision I am writing on a TI Extemsa 570CDT with a 1 gig disk drive, 24 Meg of memory and an active matrix screen. I've used ALGOL, FORTRAN, COBOL, CBASIC, Turbo PASCAL, dBase II, dBase III, Clipper, Foxpro 2.0 and 2.5 for DOS, Foxpro 2.6 for windows, VFP 3.0, VFP 5.0, VB 2.0, VB 3.0, Delphi 2.0 and I am sure others that have faded into the mist of time as I suffer from TMD (temporary memory displacement) What were we talking about? I've fogotten. Well enough of this bragging. Bob Brown
