I have been evaluating Atlantis and ApexSQL Diff to create a script for updating table structure of customer database. I do the comparison (for testing) on my PC, both databases are in SQLEXPRESS 2005. The strange thing I find is neither tool picks up that one of the tables (source table) has new columns and a column removed. What should I be looking at in my database as to why the tools (that I am sure used by many developers) do not recognize the changes of this table?
TIA.
UPDATE. Maybe I jumped the gun. I think ApexSQL Diff does recognize the new columns. But I can't figure out how to make it create a script, rather than update the target database. I see button Synchronize which, it looks like, will update the target database. But I would like to see the script first, that will be applied. So that I could use this script not on my PC but on the customer PC. If anybody sees what I am missing, please let me know.
