Obviously the car manufacturer could of done the same thing but did not. They're going to try to balance power and performance with reliability, whereas the individual might be more interested in horsepower than longevity and willing to make the trade-off.

Horespower is one of those things that may be restricted in order to meet corporate fuel economy standards or EPA requirements.

You can do a lot to improve that.

I bet I could squeeze a couple more HP out of my Prius and take it to the strip...

..and watch really cool cars go fast.
