One of the most effective things in the main exhibition at the National Constitution Center covers just that issue. the exhibit is organized chronologically and roughly ever 20 years, there's an interactive "Could you vote in [year]?" screen with a series of questions. After you answer them and get a "yea" or "nay," the screen tells what's changed in that period.
