Hope the Guinness was good,
This customer has sent me a 3rd instance of this error, in a different folder from the other errors. so the same read only error in 3 different folders. I don't ever modify file properties, I don't use the files exclusively and I don't lock the files in question.

>>Hi All,
>>
>>I have a customer where recently, last 2 weeks, one of the tables will become read only. Only a reboot of the server sorts this out. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks to different files each time. There is nothing in the program that changes the file attributes. I can use, browse but not change or append a record. In the server administration the files show as read instead of read/write but noeone is flagged as using them in any special way. Even getting everyone to log out so no one is using the file resets the read only flag.
