I decided to use SPT because:
1- I wanted to use SQL syntax because I read that it would give me more control over what the server actually did.
2- I didn't want to learn to use Cursor Adapters.

1- turned out to be a good reason. If I have a performance issue, I have only one place to look.
2- I'll never know if that was a good reason or not.

In the .NET world, I started out with SPT and migrated to typed datasets. I still use typed datasets most of the time, but I find myself going back to SPT more and more for performance reasons.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
