One thing I always tell my clients to keep in mind is whether they are looking to do a full conversion away from VFP or whether thet wish to continue maintaining the application in VFP. FoxInCloud is oriented towards the latter. Servoy, xBase, etc have or are developing tools with the goal of making it easy for VFP apps to transition to their platform. On a side note, were I going the conversion route, Servoy has made the best impression on me. Lianja, polarfox, all good ideas that are partially implemented and may become serious options, but for me, not yet.

IOW xBase++ and FiC are apples and oranges.

Bindevents should not be a problem AFAIK, but keep in mind that the goal of themed controls, making nice looking vfp controls, becomes an obsolete goal with FiC. You can style controls with VFP like always, or you can syle them wit CSS, HTML, or javascript. We use VFPSkin for all our forms and controls for the desktop versions, but it would be silly to do that for the web versions. Appearances are not longer limited by VFP's own limitations.

Foxypreviewer is on their roadmap for a future version. They have met all theur target dates in the past, so I feel they will probably do this as well. They added support for it to the roadmap after numerous clients asked them about it. However in the meantime we use XFRX and a viewer with foxy-like options. Remember that on the web "previrew", "file", and "pdf" all mean the samee thing.

We automate with Excel; like any standard VFP code it works fine.

In general my experience has been that VFP things work great, third party and activex controls depend. But almost all the cont4rols you could want have web equivalents, so it has not bothered us.

The biggest challenge is if a developer is not used to developing for the web, they have to adjust to stateless environment. fiC takes away much of that pain, but you have to be aware of how state, synchronous, and asynchronous activities apply to a web app.

Are you planning to be at SW Fox? We are considering a pre-conference FiC and related products and concepts pre-conference seminar.

Happy to answer any other questions.

>Thanks tuvia. We are consideering FIC and the upcoming (AFAIK) PolarFox. I guess we can try FIC in the next couple months and the we could have more detailed questions. Specifically, we use Themed Controls by Emerson Reed (wich uses a lot of bindevents) and Cesar Chalom's FoxyPreviewer, we are curious avout how well FIC work with those.
>Also, we automate Excel a lot.....it is also a concern.
>>My experience has been very positive about the company and product. We use it very successfully. Given it is pretty extensive, if you wish, give me a list of questions and I will answer them.
>>
>>>I'm very interested in your general opinion about FIC and your experience with it.
>>>Regards
>>>>If anyone has questions about FoxInCloud and its abilities please feel free to ask here or PM. We have an enterprise app in FiC. I have no connection to the actual FiC coampany
