>>Yes, I am certain that you can provide many links that support the (myth) of peak oil just as are many aficionados of Al Gore and his global warming crap. The point is that yours is not the only point of view with support for it.

>We've pretty much picked the low hanging fruit in oil so production costs and environmental impact can only go up.

Peak oil is a calculation based on insufficient data precisely because it only considers existing "fruit". Because the concept cannot take into account technological advancements which open up further resources and make their extraction more efficient. Advancements in discovery, extraction & transportation transform the previously difficult to attain into "low hanging". Those advancements reduce costs and increase efficiency .

If encouraged rather than "crusified" there will be an energy revolution the likes of which have never been seen.

Oil shale deposits in the Green River Formation are estimated to contain up to 3 trillion barrels of oil, half of which may be
recoverable, which is about equal to the entire world’s proven oil reserves.

That's 1 formation.

Please note while the testimoy was from 2 weeks ago, GAO’s testimony is based on its October 2010 report on the impacts of oil shale development Whenever anyone suggests the US reserves are small (see Wiki) or that peak oil is upon us, know that they are either lying or their information is years out of date.

As to the environmental impact, the same limited vision is in place combined with the standard Gaia extremism, monetary opportunism and behavior control tyranny.
