Android taking a tumble would is not the point: it being nearly license free is not.
I read some opinions that Win8, even if runnable/optimized for ARM with RT,
won't succeed in ARM tablets as it would hike the cost too much to go against other ARM tablets.
Argued that way, it spells doom for MS profit margins, as they will have to lower prices to get into ARM to succeed.
If that happens and nice Win-ARM running SW is created, they will be under pressure to lower Intel cost.
Somehow a non-Win situation...
But when viewed against PC OS in the middle nineties till now, you have still more competition in mobile
