Then it should come with a Windows Certificate of Authenticity sticker attached somewhere, with a legitimate activation key printed right on that sticker.

If you go to Control Panel...System, at the bottom there is an option to "Change product key". If you type in the one that's on the sticker, your problems should be over.

One caveat: if you've purchased a Windows version upgrade key (e.g. from Home Premium to Professional), either through Windows Anytime Upgrade or at a retailer like Best Buy, you should use that instead.
