I have been using Visual ProMatrix Enterprise for the last 12 years starting with version 6. Now at version 9.1.12a. There was a major change to the framework at version 9.1.
There are no oddball objects or odd programing practices. It's all VFP and all editable if you need to. There is a learning curve like any framework but I doubt if it is any worse than the other frameworks.
As for the free version, it's not the same so don't base your decision on it. The Promatrix Forums are a great place to get informaton (http://forum.promatrix.net/). The ProMatrix Priority Support froum is only availabe to the paid support users.
