Do you have something against the working man (and woman)? I am certainly no blind defender of everything unions have ever done but let's not forget that they came about for a reason. Workers were ruthlessly exploited by ownership until they organized some power of their own. For some strange reason a lot of people seem to want us to return to that state of affairs.

Just because one believes that the unions have outlived their usefulness does not mean that one wants to return to the days of sweat shops, child labor, 16 hours work days, etc. etc. And in this country, even if one wanted to return to that state of affairs, it would be illegal.

In the private sector, union membership has droppped dramatically over the years and only a small minority of the labor force in the private sector is unionized. I do not see workers being ruthlessly exploited by ownership in the private sector. What I do see is the owners (i.e., the tax payors) being ruthlessly exploited by the workers in the public sector unions who think that they are entitled to their health care and pensions without having to contribute one single penny to them like those of us in the private sector are required to do.
