Don't know about tapeworms but in Laos once I managed a case of some kind of pin worm that certainly helped me shed the pounds ( though since it coincided with extended time in villages where a food shortage was causing the cuisine to be pretty much limited to rice, fish paste and locusts there could have been other contributing factors )
