Yeah, I saw that in the news. Fleetwood Mac had kind of a sad history. Most of us remember their arena rock days in the 1970s -- I saw them on the bicentennial near Boston in 1976 when they opened for the Eagles and blew the Eagles off the stage -- but I really like their origins as a blues band. The band headed by Bob Welch was in between.
What made the 70s Fleetwood Mac incarnation go was Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joining the band. Stevie got most of the attention but Buckingham's guitar work gave them their sound. He was incredible live. On record he got about 8 bars of solo work at a time but in concert he got to cut loose. Seeing him play lead on "Blue Letter" is something I will never forget.
