>>>Which Dodge, the Viper? ;-)
>>>
>>>I don't think you would get 26-27 mph with that one. I am quite happy getting a reliable 30 mph from a car that still has some get up and go.

>The car that really amazed me was the Chevy Volt that blew my doors off on the way to Houston one weekend. Traffic was moving at around 75 and he zipped past us like we were doing 35.

I've yet to see one out here (or at least I haven't noticed one).

I had been really excited during the initial marketing hype on the volt. My wife and I had agreed that one would be in the garage as soon as they were available if they met the hype.

Turned out to be a ho-hum hybrid with a big battery. Expensive and mediocre.

Maybe next time.

>>>>My 2002 Dodge (the 2nd new car I ever bought) has 120K miles (all but the first 8 are mine) on it, doesn't burn oil and gives me (on average) 26-27 mph. If you take care of it mechanically and keep the engine clean, most cars will run for 10+ years or more (with the few exceptions).

>>>>>My car, a 2003 VW Jetta, will have been with me 10 years coming up next fall. This is a major change for me in automoting, Mr. New Sports Car Every Other Year. I just wish I had done so sooner. The Jetta doesn't peel anyone's eyes off on the highway but it has been very reliable. It has 115K miles on it now and there have been only minor maintenance issues. German auto engineering is not a myth.

>>>>>Goodbye, little red Corvettes, you will always have a special place in my heart ;-) It was a time and a place. I am in a different time and place now and it would be sort of a joke to be one of those guys driving Corvettes just because they've got the money. Driving by themselves, their few strands of hair flying with the roof off. Less like a joke than a sad cliche.

>>>>>My daughters and I have a running joke. Whenever we are on the road and see a yellow Corvette I say, "There's that guy again, driving my car." They have inherited my quirky sense of humor, such as it is, and know exactly what I mean.
