Ummm... Web tricks are different. I can find the same thing for Windows Phone

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/default.aspx

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/buy/7/compare.aspx?devices=1876:7;1958:7

And you can buy them directly http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-US/buy/7/default.aspx

What I should have said is "TV or print ad"

>>With Surface, both the hardware and OS are Microsoft branded. You won't see a Surface tablet from Dell or HP. (That's not to say they won't copy the design, but the name "Surface" is a Microsoft hardware product) So, Microsoft will have to do some marketing. This is the Apple strategy.

>Agreed. And this formula has resulted in Apple having a rather small portion of the market until recently.

What I read today is that for years, Microsoft has been disappointed with the quality of machines put out by OEMs. Horrible drivers, low cost hardware, etc. Microsoft claims that 80% of Dr. Watson crash reports are really due to third-party software. The Fox community for years has known about bad printer drivers from HP and that HP refuses to fix the drivers, even though they don't comply with Microsoft's specs. By building their own hardware, MS can dictate quality specs. They know they need to hit Apple head-on and it appears they don't have confidence in their hardware vendors. Even the Samsung tablet that was handed out at the Build conference last year is really, really bad.

>>I've heard some reports (MaryJoFoley, for example) that Barnes & Noble will not only sell books, but will also feature a Microsoft store inside. That could bolster sales of both Windows tablets and phones.

>Really? off to a brilliant start I see!...after all you know how stable, solid and growing all those brick & mortar book stores all. Great idea - lets open up some shops inside some stores that are dropping like flies.

Microsoft and B&N have entered into some type of strategic alliance. Actually, if an MS store in BN is true, it would be a smart move. It would quickly allow Microsoft to have something to compete with an Apple store to lure consumers. It would also get people into B&N and could help sales of the Nook. (Also, there is rumored to be a Windows powered Nook coming).

>I keep looking for some more detailed specs on this thing but I guess none released yet. This thing better have a webcam to two built into it or I'll be really pissed..ha

We haven't heard alot about this thing. No availability date, no pricing (other the "competitive") and no info on battery life.
