Talk about raining on the parade...

OK, yeah so let's say you get an old Foxpro Desktop app to respond to touch on one of these new Microsoft brand tablets. It's working on Microsoft hardware and nothing else. Other than the XBOX, Microsoft has an abysmal record in hardware, especially for business... (my guess is that most people will continue to buy iPad and iPhone in droves with Android a close second since they can easily drive the price down).

I choose keeping my money and time investment in VFP code and just offering it up on the web to popular and free client software like jQuery Mobile that works on everything.. Call me crazy...

>>1.) How will Foxpro handle the touch screen on these tablets?? If you can't use touch in your VFP app this is a FAIL.

>>2.) If these tablets don't become popular real quick, they might as well be dead in the water. As of now, it's all iPAD and somewhere in second, Android.

>Win8 based tablets are likely to jump past android pretty quickly, especially if Microsoft listens to the corporate world and allows the tablet OS to play nice on domains - if that happens, Win8 tablets will overtake iPads in the next couple of years in corporate use.

>>Why not cover all the bases and just do a jQuery mobile front end that works on ALL of these mobile devices including phone?? And you can still use foxpro code and data!!
>
>Why keep dragging around any foxpro code or data? If you're going to write for a modern platform, get over it and use non-obsolete technology.

>>>One of the two Microsoft "Surface" tables unveiled yesterday is going to be Intel-chip based. I see this as good news for us (VFP devs) as it should be able to execute ( http://mattslay.com/visual-foxpro-on-windows-8/ ) applications in these tables - am I overlooking something here?
