For all the reasons people have chosen foxpro (generally, its alignment with writing data-oriented business programs), and because running everywhere on everything is increasingly a business app requirement in many business app domains. Being able to validate data in vfp on a smartphone or tablet using disconnected data seems like a easy winner to me.

>>That's true for every solution I know of with the exception of Lianja native client: VFP code will be running ON the smartphone/tablet. Ruby runs on smartphones/tablets (Rhomobile), Lua runs on smartphones/tables (Corona), and Basic runs on Android (Basis4Android). No reason VFP can't; and in the Lianja native client it will.

>>There are some things it is not intended to do: it will not use VCX's, SCX's, etc., nor run existing VFP reports. It will use ActiveX components on Windows; will not use FLL's. So I guess you can say that it's not really VFP running on the these other platforms. It is, however, VFP code (enhanced in several places: no 2GB file limits, parallel processing is a simple command that is cross-platform) running already on Win/Linux/Mac and shortly on iOS and Android.
