Title:
Give your kid(s) a hug
If you have kids still living with you at home, give them a hug. If they're to the age that the thought of hugging you is not such a good one, tell them you love them. (Which is sort of a good principle of parenting anyway IMO; it means a lot to a child to know they are always loved, no matter what).
Today I was driving on a major local road, kind of rustic but generally with a 40-55 mph speed limit, nice road to drive. On the left somewhere around Bonner Road near Wauconda I saw three police cars with sirens flashing. Wow, he must have done something pretty bad, I thought. Then I noticed none of the police officers were interrogating suspects.
And then I noticed a mangled bicycle, sub-adult size, lying in the ditch on the side of the road. I looked away in what you might call shock. I did not look for anything further. Just seeing the bike was bad enough.
So give them a hug. Or a kiss, or a tweet, or whatever. Because you never know.
