Hi John,

Yes, I believed in Fox (made a decision in 1990 to go with it), and that worked out. Then made a decision to stay with Fox when it went to MS, which worked out for a while. And listening to former VFPers who worked for MS certainly did not work out.

The real answer is that I don't believe in much right now except that which I can see right now. <s> What I see about Lianja as a company is that it has existed for 24 years (as Recital). What I see about the product is that a) it works, and b) when anything is broken, or design-deficient, it gets fixed quickly. What I see about the future parts to be released is that that all work through QT Mobile. QT has run native on Android for a year. And QT 5, releasing this fall, contains support for Android and iOS native, in addition to HTML5/CSS3 support. So there are trackrecords here that support putting time and effort.

In the end, though, we always have to suspend disbelief long enough to give something a shot. That's what I did in 1990 (when releasing a FoxPro 1 app was noticeable by its absence, and my XT ground to a crawl from the memory swapping). I saw a short but good track record, liked the direction of development, and hopped on for the ride. This is much the same, but there's actually much more in the way of track records today than there were then.

Hank

>>That's what you know to be true today. The core of Lianja is a framework that utilizes QT and CSS to achieve cross-modality capabilities within a single >version of the application. By mid-August (actually earlier: the cloud beta will start well before that) we'll see the first installment on this claim, in the form >of web mobile (HTML) apps. By New Years (Q4), we'll see about iOS Native with the same app. And by end of 13Q1 we'll see about Android.

>Hank, how do you know these things? Why would you believe all of the above - history has shown that listening to software companies rep's has not worked out. You have believed in products in the past and that did not turn out to well. Now you believe in a small company that is promising to be all things needed in developing software.
