That's a tenet of living in society and always has been. As a 12 year old I might have made the personal decision to drive a car, but there were age and licensing laws. We have all kinds of laws that are for the mutual good. As members of a society, as opposed to Robinson Crusoes, we do not get to indulge our self-interest at every moment. As long as it isn't oppressive, and without necessarily liking it all the time, I have no problem with government playing a role in our lives.
More prosaically, we're all in this together.

>>Just wondering, if current deadly embrace of insurance-doctors-pharma is so good, why were they so against the state sponsored insurance as an extra option? If it was so bad (as an idea), why not let it be created and then fail by having everybody opt out of it and go for the market proven for-profit options? What were they afraid of?
