I use Thunderbird a lot for my personal email accounts. I have not tried any integration with VFP either but I am sure you could integrate with it much like you integrate with any email product.

If you're looking for COM access or anything like that, post a message on the Thunderbird forums. They do not have to have heard of VFP to give you the information you need.
