>>Yes, I was actually well aware of the song. Admittedly, until I heard the song, I'd never heard of Van Lingle Mungo. They've played this song on Jazz FM a number of times over the years (91.1 FM in Toronto) or jazz.fm on the net.

>>Plus I'm a long time fan of Dave Frishberg. Have you ever heard "My Attorney Bernie"? Here's a youtube video of it. I have no idea at all who this singer is, but I'd certainly like to hear more from her. The intro is in Dutch (or, at least I think it's Dutch), but the song is in English.

>>If any of our friends from the Netherlands (or wherever) on here know who this singer is, Please let me know.

>I checked out the baseball results first thing this morning, as I generally do, and see the Blue Jays are two games over .500 in baseball's "group of death." This is nearly the halfway point so good for them. You don't do it with smoke and mirrors for that long.

Especially when you consider that 3 of the starting rotation 5 are on the DL, and one of the others (Romero) seems to have lost his stuff. But the top 4 of the batting order have lately been tearing things up (Lawrie, Rasmus, Bautista, Encarnacion). They're winning on hitting alone.

>A couple of years ago I had an interesting email conversation with the Tribune's lead baseball writer, Phil Rogers, about the halfway point. (He is really good). He had referred to the All Star Game as the halfway point, which is a minor inaccuracy that has always bugged me. I emailed him that if you want to get technical about it the midseason point is the 4th of July, not the All Star Game. In a 162 game season, 90 games or so is not the halfway point. He was polite and amiable, but didn't give an inch. His rebuttal was basically "That's the way we've always done it." <g>
