Is that really apples and apples? HTML5 is a specification of standards. Silverlight is (was?) a developer tool.

I heard two high level Microsoft folks insist at developer events last year that Silverlight was very much alive. Who knows, maybe that really was their intention and belief. In any case, at some point I think the community perception otherwise became reality. Hmmm, that reminds me of another MS developer product ;-(
