>I was pleased to see in the news just now that Oscar Pistorius of South Africa has been cleared to run in the 400 meters track event. He is the double amputee who runs on two high tech lower legs. When I first heard about him I thought the legs, which are made of carbon fiber, gave him some bionic spring in his stride. Then I read a long profile about him in the New York Times Magazine which debunked that. The legs give him little if any spring. He is just an incredible athlete. He also sounded like a heck of a human being.
