I agree. Tea Party sees only what they want to. Watch them next try to claim slavery never really existed! (hint: they've already started by claiming the Civil War was all about state's rights and not really slavery!)

As a child in the 1960's, my history books said the same thing. That was a long time before the tea party movement existed. Get a grip.
