Since the folks who want these laws have produced no evidence of large numbers of people voting using other people's identities, I actually know it to be a lie. These laws are solely about keeping the poor and the old and minorities from voting, in order to make it easier for Republicans to get elected. And the Majority Leader of the PA House said as much to an audience of his party constituents. (The exact quote is elsewhere in the thread.)
