The trend to very low turnouts makes me quesy,
but I am not sure I like the medicine of mandatory voting better.

OTOH making it mandatory without enforcing it seems even more silly -
make-work for the political caste. What is your typical voter turnout
and do you have different "typical" levels for national and more local votes ?
