It's another example of the "thought processes" of American politicians in an election year.

From now until November, it's all about getting votes, all the time. They just have to get the bigger numbers on election day. After that, they've got a few years for the electorate ( which has the attention span of a goldfish ) to forget how the campaign was waged.
