Not saying that windows is dead - but turn of the century even mentioning of something besides
windows was unthinkable - even java was very often realized on windows.

Backends some time were LAMP, but that was about it. Nowadays mobile clients are the rage
and xPads sport minimal CPU horse power as atom crippled netbooks while having an OS
and HW less st/draining the battery. Windows is still a heavyweight by the role of the desktop -
it is just that other roles were nearly nonexistant in NT/W2K times or they were the dinosaurs
watching the new breed get stornger ;-)

Yupp, but while earlier it was on the machine IAC now you have to offer some way to access your data
across the whole client spectrum. They lost that dominance - perhaps I should have taken more words ;-)
