>>The Koran says Muslims should capture and dominate the planet?

We're talking about historic periods when there was constant jostling between tribes and creeds all of whom fought to expand and secure their position. The Bible reflects this too... there are hundreds of examples but lets start with this from Samuel 15:2,3:

This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'

Is there historical context for what seems to be indiscriminate vengeance? Of course there is, and such Biblical passages are read and considered every day by clerics and other believers who would not dream of applying such behaviors today. But if it's OK to uncritically snip sections of Koran to "prove" a modern basis of violence, it has to be OK from the Bible as well. In which case some people need to review the Bible's commentary about casting the first stone.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
