>>>.... The classic rockers keep getting older but they never seem to stop performing. Chuck Berry, who got a jump of several years on the British Invasion bands, is still doing shows. Evidently the only way out is to die. Who possibly foresaw this when rock and roll first appeared, as the music of disaffected youth? It was Pete himself who wrote the immortal line "Hope I die before I get old." He didn't get his wish.

>Yah, saw Tull in 2000, decided Ian can't sing much anymore... but they do still rock. However... TAAB2 was a big surprise! Much wilder and thought over, with all the subtle in-jokes (in both lyrics and music) tying with the 40-year old TAAB(1). Seems to be a phase of composer's nirvana: now I've said and sold whatever anyone could expect... and after 45 years, I can do what I want.

Tull is by far the most live-seen band for me - from early seventies and then later on (when smoking was still allowed in concert halls) Ian pleaded for non-smoking, as the voice was cracked. Couple of years ago the Christmas tour was ok, as not so taxing his voice, but it is really sad, when he is in a taxing concert trying to rock as before and his voice grows weaker and weaker. Often still a good concert, but I must refrain from comparing it to the older ones or the ones still on youtube. Missed TAAB2 when they were 50km from F [checking...] one more german concert ~150km in August, ~250km in November. Reccommended live or the CD - not much canned stuff running here...
