thanks hugo - great suggestion
problem here is that even if i close the window - the wexist still shows up as true.
this is a frequently used window and i don't release it - i only deactivate.
if i release it - it does show up as false when closed - so perhaps if no other solution is forthcoming i can create a temp window to resolve this issue
