Thank you for the very, very fine distinction ;-) Yes, it was the Metro UI tiles that I meant.

>Let's get the definitions clear. Metro is a DESIGN philosphy that promotes clean lines, simple graphics, bold color, and clear, crisp typography. It has a place in desktop apps. Using it forces you to rethink your design. Look at Office 2013 or Outlook.com for examples on how it's used. Metro as a design philosphy is getting rave reviews, some saying that Microsoft has out-Appled Apple when it comes to UI design.

>You're talking about the tiles of the Metro UI. (Yes, it's all used interchangably by everyone). I've been using Windows 8 for months and rarely see the Metro UI. Almost everything I do is on the desktop. Is it more applicable to tablet and phones? Absolutely. But it still works on the desktop.

>>Metro looks intriguing in some ways but I am not ready to embrace it this soon. It still seems more suited to mobile devices than desktops and mainstream web apps, which are where I am staying for the moment.
