Gee, way to get my hopes up < s >. As others have pointed out it's pretty old news.
It's worth pointing out it isn't an SMB2 fix, it's an SMB2 disable. I think Dragan's right, if SMB2 is disabled certain networking functions won't work properly.
Win8/Server2012 are introducing SMB3. Looks like more testing is called for.
