You may be right, and I hope you are. One way of looking at it is as a sign of the power of the Tea Party (using that as a collective term). Sure, they were not going to vote for Obama anyway, but their involvement through personal commitment and especially money (Koch brothers et al) should not be underestimated. Displease them at your risk.
