>>We have empirical historical evidence behind us, yet there are still those who "believe" government "stimulus" spending actually stimulates. It doesn't. Once again the results are clear.

Trouble is that if they have nothing to lose the masses are never willing to "eat cake", they revolt. That tends to have a fairly negative effect on prosperity, including for the complacent classes given a free ride in a tumbril. Certainly you can be sure that the masses won't be convinced that their future prosperity depends on the same people who offshored all the jobs in the first place and consumed far more hand-out than any welfare queen, but now apparently offer the best hope of salvation.

Seems to me that some people need a good dose of the gift immortalized by Robbie Burns: "O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us." Especially if those others are many and strong and are about to be shown they have nothing to lose.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
