Agreed, apart from the experience. Despite his age he has been in politics for quite a while, and in positions of responsibility and power. He is a god to the 87 Republican house members who were elected in 2010. A good Wisconsin guy, the kind of guy who does repairs to his $400K mansion (which is a lot in Janesville) by himself. He is not full of hate and does not throw bombshells gratuitously. He is willing to talk to anyone without rancor. We need more in Congress with that outlook.

Unfortunately, I hate all his positions ;-( The more that come out, particularly on social issues, the more concerned I become. You expect the Republicans to be looking out for the rich on fiscal issues. Now he is with the part of the curve on social issues.

It also concerns me that he jetted off to Las Vegas two days after his nomination to meet with Sheldon Adelson and other prospective donors. Under the new campaign rules approved by the Supreme Court (no holds barred) Adelson, one of the richest men in the U.S., has pledged $25 million of his own money to unseat Obama. He and the Koch brothers and their ilk would have an ear in a Romney administration -- you better take my call.

This election is going to be close. Voters are mostly locked in, with only 10% undecided according to a recent poll. Turnout is going to be key. My hope is the disappointed Democrats who have lost their enthusiasm for Obama go to the polls. As Rahm Emanuel -- surely not an objective witness -- says, it really does matter who's sitting in the Oval Office.

There is humor in everything. The relationship between Romney and Ryan has been referred to more than once as a bromance. Online chatter about where can I find a topless picture of Paul Ryan? Yes, we are a very serious electorate, LOL.

It's true as far as it goes that Ryan has injected some much needed enthusiasm into the Romney campaign. Romney better be careful, though. Some of Ryan's positions are way out there beyond the comfort zone of a majority of American voters. Romney has already reacted quickly to squelch speculation that Ryan's draconian budget views will drive the previously position-averse Romney campaign. As a clever headline on the NY Times opinion page put it the other day, "Paul Ryan's Romney Problem."

>He's got charisma, I'll have to admit. But I sure do hate his politics. And he really does not have that much experience...

>>As has been widely speculated the past few days, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin is Mitt Romney's choice as VP. He is the House budget director and a leading voice of sharp spending cuts to balance the budget. Reportedly Mitt's short list consisted of more moderate choices from battleground states until the Tea Party and other hard right Republicans pushed hard for Ryan. Of course, Wisconsin is itself a battleground state.
