I agree with what Obama was actually saying (which is clear if you read or listen to the statement in context). That is, if you own a business, you didn't build the roads and other infrastructure that your business needs.

I also believe that if you own a business, you didn't build it _alone_. Whoever educated you helped, whoever gave you opportunities along the way helped, and so forth.

No one succeeds alone. The notion that you can "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" is bs.
