We have a web application which has been running for quite a few years on a 2003 server, recently this stopped working. We could not find a solution so ended-up reinstalling the 2003 server but to get it working I have had to use different permissions on the COM object than I had previously used.
This is an ASP page, creating a VFP COM object (.exe) which in turn creates another COM object (CDIntfEx).
Originally this VFP COM ran as 'The launching user', there was a Group of allowed users on the domain and that group was given permissions on the COM object:
Launch and activation permissions: local launch
Access permissions: Local access
Now this worked fine for a number of years but since the reinstall I find that I have to set a specific Identity 'This user' and can no-longer use 'The launching user' for the COM object to run reliably.
Has anyone else noticed similar behavior? it is possible that this difference has been introduced by a Windows Update, Service pack, .net library or similar.
Thanks,
Nick
