I find (among people I know) it works the opposite. People are afraid to be accused of being racist so they say they would vote for Obama whereas they do the opposite. But for the most part people in this country (IMHO) do not vote for someone but rather against someone. When Obama won in 2008 people didn't vote for him, neither did they vote again McCain. But they voted against the years of slavery and racial prejudice; making a point to the world that we as a society are past that. Again, IMHO, Obama was not qualified to be elected; no experience, no brain power, nothing. But he was at the right place at the right time for himself. By the way, many prominent democrats said it; not just me.
