>>>Well, YOU do walkies in that room, why can't she? I swear that's always the hardest concept to get through to a young dog.

She is my fourth dog and the first one I have worked hard on trying to do things the right way. One thing I read and hear over and over is how important it is to instill good habits from the start. Things that are no big deal in a puppy, cute even, will be big deals when she reaches her adult size of 80 pounds or so. For example, jumping up on people. So she already knows the word down. Her vocabulary is growing rapidly.

>Yup, raise a puppy as you want the dog to act. Much like raising a child, yet people insist on looking at me like I'm crazy when I say "Raise your puppy the same way you'd raise a child." Give 'em limits, let 'em know what the consequences of their actions will be when they misbehave - praise them when they do well and give them your time.

Maybe you should be a vet, because that's exactly what she said. She said if there are no consequences for unwanted behavior the puppy has no reason to change. Ditto again on giving them your time. She said puppies sleep a lot (18-20 hours a day at this stage) but when they are up there should be no telephone, television, etc.
